In this article, we’ll try to help students who see a black screen when trying to connect to Zoom.

Every student should join their Open Day or class session by simply clicking the link we send via SMS and email.

⚠️ Imortant! The link only works during the times given by the school – usually at 10am, 12pm, 3pm or 6pm on weekdays, or 10am, 11am, 12pm on Saturdays. If you try to join more than 10–15 minutes before or after the scheduled time, the link won’t be active.

After clicking the link, you should see a screen showing your face from the camera – this is how the teacher and other students will see you in the class. At this stage, you’ll be able to enter or correct your name, turn on your microphone, and switch on your camera if you don’t see yourself yet.

At this point, make sure you click “Join” – not “Sign in”, which is only for teachers.

If you’ve clicked “Join” and instead of entering the class you see a black screen with the word “Connecting”, and nothing happens for several minutes, try these three solutions:

  1. Uninstall and reinstall the ZOOM app on your phone.
  2. Try joining from a different device, like another phone or a laptop – for example, one belonging to a friend or family member.
  3. Try using a different Wi-Fi network.

If it still doesn’t work, please email us to let us know you’ve tried the steps above and they didn’t help.
Also, make sure to tell us what phone model you’re using – whether it’s an iPhone or Android.

Thank you and good luck!
